Our Team

Phill grew up in New York, graduated with a BS in Construction Management and Engineering from the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry, and moved to the Raleigh area in 1997. He has been around the construction industry since he was a young child, working with his father completing residential remodeling projects and repairs. Phill began his professional construction career as an assistant superintendent for a commercial general contracting company in Raleigh, constructing commercial sites, infrastructure and building projects. Before starting Closer Look in 2005, Phill’s experiences run the gamut from site construction to building construction as well as fit up, repair & maintenance. When Phill isn’t working, he enjoys adventuring & extreme sports, exercising, and getting rad with Heather and their three children.

Heather is a North Carolina native. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and obtained her Master’s Degree from Wake Forest University. Her professional career has been as a counselor, and for the past decade she has worked in managed care. The construction industry is relatively new for her – she originally came on board with Closer Look to assist Phill with a business development project and her role has blossomed into marketing, organizational development and human resources. Heather is also a licensed real estate broker.  In her free time, Heather rides horses, competes in triathlons and other athletic endeavors, climbs mountains with Phill, and has all sorts of fun and adventure with their blended family (and dogs).

Nick is our Field Superintendent - if you have a project of any size going on, you can rest assured Nick will be there. He is a native of Connecticut but has lived here in the Triangle for nearly 25 years. Nick has been in the field of construction for most of that time, and brings a wealth of skill and expertise to his role here at Closer Look. He loves to be outdoors - boating, fishing, camping, and building things - and spending time with his wife and son.

Chris keeps Closer Look going behind the scenes as the project manager and overseer of all things financial. Chris has over fifteen years of experience in commercial construction as a project manager and estimator. He has a thorough understanding of constructibility and prides himself on building strong relationships with clients. His favorite kind of projects are those that give opportunity for creative design. Chris is a Raleigh native and proud NC State graduate. He lives in Clayton with his wife, son, daughter and two dogs. In his free time, he enjoys cheering for the Wolfpack, discovering and enjoying new music, and serving his church in various roles.

David pulls things together as our Field Operations Liaison. He originally joined Closer Look as a one of our hard-working field technicians, but exhibited an ability to extend and combine his organizational talents with his construction skills. You will find David on-site meeting with inspectors and subcontractors, and in the office coordinating material orders and scheduling work. What you may not know is that this is a second career for David, who spent two decades as a chef in the hospitality industry. He lives in Durham with his wife and son and their two (rescued) cats.

Cienna helps bring your vision to life as our interior designer. She strives to have a thorough understanding of her clients' needs and wants. Cienna is passionate about creating spaces that will have a positive impact on her clients' daily lives and prides herself on attention to detail. Cienna grew up in Virginia and graduated with a BS in Interior Design from Meredith College, and relocated to the Raleigh area after graduating. In her free time, Cienna enjoys reading, taking long walks with her dog, and spending time with family.
